Brazier Smokeless Coal

DEFRA-approved smokeless coal for open fires and multi-fuel stoves.

Brazier is a solid, no-fuss smokeless coal that does exactly what you need it to — burns longer than house coal, produces far less smoke, and keeps the fire going without constant attention. If you want reliable warmth at a sensible price, Brazier is worth a look.

Like all approved smokeless fuels, it's legal to burn in Smoke Control Areas where house coal is banned. It burns as compact ovoid pieces that sit well in the fire bed and allow good airflow, helping maintain a steady heat without needing to be constantly managed.

Is it right for your appliance?

Brazier is suitable for open fires and multi-fuel stoves. If your stove is wood-only (no ashpan, no air controls beneath the grate), stick to our kiln-dried logs — smokeless coal needs a multi-fuel appliance to burn properly. If you're unsure, check your appliance manual or look for the multi-fuel label.

10kg or 20kg?

The 10kg bag is a good way to try Brazier before committing to a larger quantity. The 20kg bag works out better value per kilo and is the one to go for if you're burning regularly — most customers who try the 10kg come back for the 20kg next time.

Key facts

• DEFRA-approved — suitable for use in Smoke Control Areas
• Significantly less smoke than house coal
• Longer burn time than house coal — fewer top-ups needed
• Burns cleanly with minimal ash residue
• Suitable for open fires and multi-fuel stoves

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place off the ground. The bags are robust but not weatherproof long-term — a covered store or coal bunker is ideal. Damp fuel is harder to light and produces more smoke, so keeping it dry makes a noticeable difference.
